Hi Readers!!! I guess we should start the post by saying "Congrats to Mo'Nique on her Oscar Win for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie!" That really is awesome and a great accomplishment. You go girl! Haven't seen the Oprah's after Oscar's show yet. Heard Mo'Nique addressed all the rumors that she refused to promote the movie, Precious. I will watch it this week. I did though see Mo'Nique on Barbara Walters Oscar special and what was up with that bizarre interview. I thought Ms. Walters asked strange crazy questions and Mo'Nique gave strange crazy answers. The whole conversation regarding Mo'Nique and her husband’s relationship was just pure craziness!
Did Diddy and Cassie officially step out together in Paris for fashion week? That is what it's looking like people. I'm not sure how serious Diddy and Cassie are because he still steps out with Kim Porter, the mother of three of his kids from time to time. I guess only time will tell. I do think that Cassie is beautiful but maybe a tad young for Diddy.
R&B singer Usher may not be back after all and you can blame it on Trey Songz. Songz's who has one of the hottest albums out right now may be pushing the "Raymond v. Raymond" album back onto the shelf. Record executives are deciding if it's a smart move to come out with the Usher album in the midst of Trey Songz very successful project. Although they do sound a lot alike I think Usher should go for it. He has a large fan base and I think he has paid his dues over the years and should not have to push his album back because of another artist.
OMG Lil Wayne has finally reported to jail! This after almost a year of back and forth, emergency dentist appointments and such. Crazy! Never heard of so much press surrounding a rapper going to jail. Aren't we use to this by now? Rappers going to jail are becoming commonplace as far as I'm concerned. The rapper was sentenced on Monday to a year in jail and surrendered to start serving his time immediately. Lil Wayne can be released in about eight months on good behavior.
And finally Gabby, Gabby, Gabby! I am referring to Gabrielle Union's interview in Jet Magazine. I must admit I haven't read it but I did hear that she basically told everyone (does that include us) to get over the fact that her and Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade are together. (Where’s the humble pie) She basically disputes the fact that the two got together during their respective marriages. I think the world knows Gabrielle was divorced it's Dwayne's marriage that may be a little bit questionable in this scenario. Whatever the case may be the media is giving it to her whatever chance they get. I think it’s safe to say they will not be the next "It" couple. It's kind of good to see that America really does have values when it comes to some things and does not like the fact the she may have (allegedly) been the third party in the Wade's marriage. I said allegedly so don't call me Gabby! I think Gabrielle could use a good pr overhaul to get her back into everyone’s good graces. Right now she is becoming the woman the blogs love to hate. Poor Gabby! Hey she’s got Dwayne Wade she’ll be alright!

Irish on Tiger Woods
The hottest topic online, in offices, on sport shows, and on late night talk shows is Tiger, Tiger, Tiger! Poor Tiger! I know can you believe I said poor tiger. Well I did and I do feel bad for the greatest sports figure of our generation.
Tiger went wrong in so many areas, but let's start wtih #1 he married way too young. He was not ready to settle down and have a family. When you are the biggest sports star on earth it looks good. Also I'm sure there is pressure to settle down and set the golden image that the advertisers love. And let's be clear, the endorsements that Tiger has collected like hardware is the bulk of his massive fortune.
The next mistake is that Tiger tried to be too secretive. He did not want anyone to know his business, not even close personal friends. Now I'm sorry my black friends this is how we know Tiger has no knowledge of his blackness. Now we know that our other brothers all have someone that they can use to be their go between for all of their transgressions. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not promoting or do I believe Tiger was right in his bad behaviour no way. However, You are Tiger Woods! Hello!!! Get you a flaky or a close friend to be that person who does "the texting and calling". Tiger why does some random chick or any chick have your cell phone number? Really? No random people should have your cellphone number. Are you kidding, Tiger?
Finally I truly believe that as soon as Tiger knew that the "boom" was coming down on him he should have called Oprah. And really he still should go on Oprah for damage control. Come on beat all these crazy, random and money hungry people to the punch. Go on Oprah confess all and then it's all out in the open. Take the sting out of everyone else before they strike. That way the public and the media are not running rampant with every little person's story who comes out the wood work.
In the end, I do believe that we must do better in this country on a personal level. Where have our morals gone? We have the governor in South Carolina, the New Jersey Governor a few years back, more recently Detroit's mayor I could go on and on. We must as public figures do a much better job of setting moral standards. What happened to God and family in this country? We now just do whatever we want or feel with no regard for the families we destroy or hurt. My sister-in-law's favorite bible verse is "To whom much is given , much is expected". (Luke 12:48) I think that says it all, until next time.

Irish Tackles The View's Barbara Walters on Black Families
Okay so I have been so excited about the Inauguration of President Barack Obama right. So I call myself recording the morning shows so I could catch all the reactions the next day on certain television shows like The View. So as I sit down to watch I'm all excited to hear what the ladies on the View had to say about our new President and First Lady Michelle Obama. It was just then when the matriarch of the show Barbara Walters opens her mouth and inserts her dainty foot. Not to get into the all the details this lady (yes I said this lady) says that she believed that all the hope and excitement America had about the Inauguration was because finally America had an image of a Black family being together for the first time since the Cosby show. (Yes brakes are screeching all over America) WHAT BARBARA??? Did you really say that? Yes she did and when Sherry Sheppard tried to interrupt and stop her from digging herself into a deeper hole she proceeds to tell Sherry, "Don't get me in trouble here let me just finish." No Barbara we think you said ENOUGH!!!! But then she goes on to say let’s face it “we” America have only seen black women raising the families. Sometimes when someone tries to stop you just stop! One could see the disappointment on Whoopi's face as she hung her head like no she didn't go there.
A message to Ms. Walters the Cosby show is not real. As Sherry pointed out it was indeed a television show. It fairly depicted accurately that yes we do have families where one parent is a lawyer and the other is a doctor. There are black families all over America low-income, middle class and upper class where black families stay together and the father does not leave. In my own middle-class up bringing my dad was present and never left. I have uncles who never left. My brother and brother-in-law never left their families. My grandfathers never left their families.
Ms. Walters you are watched by millions and should be more responsible in your comments and depictions of black families especially if you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Are there single moms raising kids? Yes, but guess what they are not only Black they are white, Hispanic, Asian and every other race. Blacks do not have the monopoly on single mothers raising their families.
The excitement that you saw all over America was not because finally we have a black family that has a father present it was because finally there was proof that hope does finally exist in America. That though hard work and dedication that "ANYONE" in this United States of America can have their dreams come true and that success does not elude them because of the color their skin. For America finally does encompass all Americans not just whites, but Asians, Hispanics and Blacks too. It’s a New Day!

Sheree Whtifield of Real Housewives of Atlanta Gets Settlement
Okay we leave 2008 talking about the Real Housewives of Atlanta and we bring in 2009 talking about them but talk we must! Good Greif! The airwaves in Atlanta are all abuzz about the divorce settlement of former Atlanta Falcon Bob Whitfield and Atlanta Housewives’ Sheree Whitfield. Sheree was famous for saying she was holding out for a 7-figure divorce settlement. Well everyone is weighing in on that settlement and Sheree's decision to appeal the settlement and how her lawyer portrayed her in the divorce hearings.
The settlement seems fair by all standards to everyone but Sheree and her lawyer. She might not have gotten a straight full 7 figure settlement but by the time you add up what she got it is in the low 7 figures thus the reason for Sheree's disappointment. Here is the breakdown of the settlement. She was awarded custody of their two children, child support of $2142.87 a month, a division of the martial property totaling more than $1.1 million including a lump sum of $775,000 and she also receives an additional $113,422 a year from the divorce. It’s unclear if the child support is included in the $113,422 annual amount. She will also receive half of the martial portions of three NFL retirement plans. But the court did not award alimony, which is the base of her appeal. Keep in mind that Sheree and Bob were together 14 years but only married 3 of those years.
To me this is a nice settlement except that Sheree did not get to keep her 2.6 million dollar home. Which is strange considering that most of the time judges will not make women with kids give up their home. But it seems practical since Sheree has no sense of money giving her shopping habits on the television show. She had a penchant for not looking at the price tag of things. Well you better start looking at tags or you will be in bankruptcy court next. Besides I’m sure that she could not keep up a 2.6 million dollar home if she is not doing a good job managing money.
Bob Whitfield was rewarded nearly all of the real estate, including four homes and the recording studio. Her lawyers have appealed the divorce settlement, which has been denied by the lower courts in Georgia so now they have appealed to the Supreme Court.
Now here is the part that many people are taking issue with. Her appeal is based on the following, that she has a lack of education and inability to earn income. In addition, the courts abused its discretion by not awarding alimony. She feels that her husband will always earn money because he is a sophisticated businessman with investment properties in Costa Rica, California and Atlanta. He has recently returned to Stanford University to enhance his earning power.
Okay first of all our issue with all of this is why on earth would you say you have an inability to earn income. Are you handicapped in some way, shape or form? No. Call it what it is laziness! You don't want to work, which was obvious by the way she handled her clothing line debut. She wants to run around attending lunches & spa dates while everyone else does all the work. Hence why her clothing line debut was a complete disaster. Okay our next issue when has a lack of education ever stopped anyone from earning income? Must we remind Sheree of Bill Gates and Ted Turner? Both are wealthy with only a high school diploma. Her arguments’ are senseless and without merit. And finally if you want to be a sophisticated businessperson take some of the $113,422 and go back to school. What is stopping her from learning? Her appeal to the Supreme Court makes her look greedy and dumber than a 5th grader. How can you devalue your own worth? And didn’t you get yourself on the “Real Housewives” television show that is creating income Sheree! Case closed…NEXT!
